Softball
Sunday, August 7, 2005 at 6:39PM So I agreed to play in a Comcast softball tournament. I am not that good at softball or any sport for that matter, but I thought it would be good to go socialize with some co-workers. The tournament was in Bensenville of all places. Our first game started at 8am, but you were supposed to be there by 7:30. Which means I had to leave my place by 6, which means I got up at 5:30am on a freakin Sunday morning. Our team wasn't nearly as organized as most these other teams. A lot of them had custom made shirts and jerseys. Such as the first team we played. They definitely played softball together in the past. We got slaughtered 14-1. After the disapointing defeat, it was all about sitting around for 2 hours until out next game. At 11am we played again, this time to a team who did not have custom jerseys. They were not that good, and we killed them 17-7. I scored two of our runs. However, one of our teammates pulled a hamstring at the end of the game. The injury made us almost forfeit our final game at 2pm. We did not have enough people to play, but we gained another player that volunteered from another team. But nothing could have prepared us for our final competitors...the Southsidaz. Their team pretty much consisted of 6-7ft tall, very muscular black men. Somewhat intimidated, we went on with the game...and lost 15-5. Obviously, we did not make it to the finals, so we bailed out at 2:40 right after the game ended. I did have fun, but would I do it next year? I'm not quite sure.

The Southsidaz cheated though... well, once they did. One guy did NOT tag up on a fly ball. He started to run when the ball was hit. When it was caught, instead of going back to tag the base, he ran home and scored. I got the ball and tagged third, but the ump wasn't paying attention and let them keep the run. So, technically, the score was 14-5.
Can you tell I'm bored? I trudging up posts from 2005!
