I hate shopping
Sunday, December 17, 2006 at 12:42PM Shopping sucks. And this is why:
I was looking to find a cheap 13" TV to replace the broken one next to my desk at work. I figured I could probably find a cheap one at a thrift store. So I visited the Salvation Army in Waukegan. They had a huge shelf of TV's. But they were all crap. Every one was super old with turn dial knobs. I didn't need anything fancy, but I at least needed a digital tuner. There was one with a digital tuner for $40 that looked like someone shit on it. But at that price I could get a brand new 13" TV from K-Mart, so fuck that. I left and drove down the street to another thrift store. Their store was just as big, but had absolutely no TV's. So I gave up on TV shopping.
Another item that I needed for my work desk was a lamp. I had seen a really cool desk lamp that looked like a studio light in an edit bay at the Evanston Access Studio. I asked them where they got it and they said at Expo in Vernon Hills. So later that day I drove there to try and find the lamp. I searched the entire lighting section up and down, and even asked an employee if they had such an item. The answer was no. So I gave up on desk lamp shopping.
Today, I needed to buy a Christmas gift from the hardware store. I drove there, but it's 5pm on a Sunday, and it's closed of course. I headed to the mall to seek out some more Christmas presents. I needed to buy some records for Tom. I would have ordered them online, but I am scared that they would not get here until after Christmas. The only store I could think of around here that would carry records is Music Recyclery. I got to the mall, which was a madhouse, and had to park a mile away from the entrance. I finally made it through the mall to the spot where Music Recyclery should have been. But it must have closed down, it is now some wallet shop or something. I was pissed, but didn't want to make my trip a complete waste, so I head to Bed Bath and Beyond. I was looking to get another DVD rack to accommodate our growing DVD collection. A friend had bought one there a few weeks prior that had closely matched the ones that we already have. But after 2 laps around the store, I found nothing.
No TV. No desk lamp. No tools. No records. No DVD rack. Shopping sucks.

I had issues trying to find the DVD rack, and had to ask someone where they were. Did you check in the furniture section?
