Bad CAR-ma returns!
Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 6:02AM While delivering pizzas last night, I was running low on gas. I stopped at a gas station on Hainsville Road to fill up. My "low on gas" light had been on for some time, so I expected to fill up a whole tank, which is 12 gallons. The pump stopped at 11.8 gallons. Close enough. I paid with my credit card and was on my way. Pulling out of the gas station, I noticed something strange. My gas gauge wasn't on full. It was an 8th of a tank under full. I thought I'd give it a couple minutes and maybe it would realize how much gas it had in there. I returned to the store and grabbed another pizza for delivery. On my way to this delivery, my gas gauge said I only had half a tank. What the hell is going on here? Am I leaking gas? I checked my car out, and the answer was no. Did I get a bad batch of gas that was burning off really quickly? Perhaps. I was considering going back to the gas station and complaining, but by my next delivery, my gas gauge went back up to full. It's been fine ever since.
I think the problem was not the gas, but the gauge itself. My RPM gauge is already on the fritz, I don't need my gas gauge going out on me. At least my speedometer is working, or else I'd be surely getting more speeding tickets. We'll see what happens.
