Halloween

In past years, I have put weeks, or even months of thought into my Halloween costume. But this year, me and Colleen were slacking. We hadn't even thought of any ideas before we went to the Halloween shop 2 days before the party. I didn't want to be shopping all day, so I was determined to find something right away. I finally decided on Edward Scissorhands. "This will do" was my attitude. Colleen decided on a witch costume.

The day of the party, Colleen spruced up my costume by putting some makeup on me. She made my face pale and made my eyes really dark. After getting ready, I walked out of the bathroom only to see the creepy Burger King "King" staring in my back window. It scared the crap out of me, and then I realized it was Freund (who did not tell me what his costume was going to be). Colleen, Freund and myself rode down to Alex's Halloween party, but not before making a quick pit stop...at the Grayslake Burger King. We walked in there in costume, hoping to get some entertaining pictures. Some other customers in line reacted to seeing the "King" inside the Burger King. But as for the employees, it was a whole different story. Mainly, the bitch who rang us up. She saw absolutely no humor in the fact that she was selling a Whopper to "The King". She did not even acknowledge the fact. Not only that, but she was a rude fucking whore. She made a fun situation absolutely rotten, and for that, I'm boycotting the Grayslake Burger King for life. Needless to say, we got a couple fun pictures.

The party was just as I expected. Several different drinks, Jenny Hansen's taco dip, and the "Like a Prayer" dance. There were no visits from the cops this year, probably because it was a little less crazy than previous years. Maybe it's because we are getting older? Or did we not drink enough? Who knows. When it came time for the costume contest, I didn't even consider myself competing for first place. But it eventually came down to me and Freund...the votes were tied. I voted for Freund's Burger King costume, and I found out later that Freund voted for himself. So if I would have voted for myself, I would have won the first time around. But since it was a tie, we redistributed the ballots and people had to vote for either Edward Scissorhands or The King. I was the crowd favorite, and won a Best Buy gift card. I was very surprised at my victory. The costume that I put the least thought into ended up winning 1st prize. I'll have to give credit to Colleen though, since I think it was her makeup job that brought by costume together.

Trick-or-treating this year was not on actual Halloween in Round Lake Park, it was on the Sunday before. Not only that, but it was from 1-5pm. It didn't really feel like Halloween outside, since it was very sunny and kinda warm. I'm normally opposed to trick-or-treating on days other than Halloween, but I was excited since it was my first time getting to pass out candy to kids. I had the front yard decorated with my homemade gravestones. I only made 2 since they were more time consuming to make than I had first thought. I killed off Freund and Alex in my graveyard. I figure I'll make couple more every year, and slowly kill off all my friends. The trick-or-treating started off slow, but soon picked up, with kids running around everywhere. We actually ran out of candy and had to pick up some more.

My the time October 31st rolled around, I pretty much had all my Halloween fun, so I decided to go deliver some pizzas at the ol' Papa Johns. Being my festive self, I decided to sport my Edward Scissorhands wig. It was a big hit with my co-workers and customers alike. It was pretty busy, but was one of the more fun days I've had at Papa Johns in a long time.
