Our cat...Twix
Friday, November 23, 2007 at 8:51PM Originally we thought that the cat belonged to our neighbors across the street, since there are always cats wondering around on their property. In order to find out the deal with the cat, I walked over there one day when she was in the driveway and introduced myself. She told me that they are basically taking care of stray cats. And since they have been known as the "cat people", other people have been abandoned their cats in their driveway. I described the cat that we had been hanging out with the past couple days and it didn't sound familiar. She assumed it was another abandoned cat and told us that if we see one that we liked that we would be welcome to keep it. Colleen got excited and I agreed to keep the cat, that is, if it came back. The cat did end up coming back the next day, so we invited her in and kept her as ours. However, there was some disagreement over the original name of "Hot Dog". After several days of discussion, me and Colleen finally decided on "Twix".
We took Twix to the vet. She was pretty healthy, except for the fact that she had ear mites. Sounds gross, but it's actually pretty common for cats, especially if they are outside on a regular basis. It required us putting ear drops in her ears and squirting an antibiotic into her mouth. It was a rather difficult task, but with both me and Colleen, we managed to get it done.
