Indy

Made a 3 day trip down to Indianapolis this week for Newsmakers. We shot in the capitol building, so, as you may have guessed, all the interviews were with politicians. I got the honor of being the technical director on this shoot, something which I have never done for Newsmakers, or any Comcast Network show for that matter. It's really not as "technical" as it sounds. You are basically a button pusher, awaiting cues from the director. But you have to be on the ball the entire segment, since you are pushing a button about every 2 or 3 seconds.

Our hotel rooms in Indy were amazing. There was a large room with 2 double beds, and there were double doors that went to a living room area with a couch, chair, desk and TV. The bathroom was quite large as well. When I first entered my room, I freaked out for a split second because I was sure that I had entered the wrong room. But it was, in fact, my room.

The first night, we ate at the hotel seafood restaurant. I decided to try something new. I thought I ordered fish, but it kinda tasted like chicken, and had the density of chicken. But it had the flaky layers like fish. I don't know if I ate chicken or fish that night, but nevertheless, it was appetizing.

The second night, we were invited to this dinner with a bunch of government people. Many of us Comcasters had second thoughts about attending, but ended up going anyway. We could leave anytime we wanted. What was interesting is that we closed out the party. All the government people left before us and all that was left were a bunch of boozed up Comcast production people. I had quite a nice wine buzz going.

After leaving the government dinner, me, Amy, Rich and Aaron decided to go on an adventure in downtown Indy. There was a cool glass dome thing with a garden in it that was raised above an intersection. We tried it get in, but we were unsuccessful. It was closed. We proceeded to walk in random building and go up and down elevators, escalators and hallways. We explored a theatre, hotel, a closed mall, and saw the best parking garages that Indy has to offer. One of our ultimate goals was to reach a supposed "rooftop ballroom" that was supposed to be in this 20 story hotel. Sadly, due to some construction, we never found our way up there.

One thing that I found interesting about the buildings we explored was that it seemed as if they were all connected in one way or another by hallways and tunnels and such. Good times. Back at the hotel, I considered ordering a movie, but thought otherwise when I saw the price of $14.99. I could buy the DVD and own it for that much. So instead, I watched a documentary about beer, called Colleen and went to bed.
